To help our communities avoid the transmission of Covid-19, we are cancelling the gannet cruise.

April is prime time for Northern Gannets' migration through Long Island Sound. On the outbound trip we will search for gannets and other seabirds—Common Eiders, Surf and White-winged Scoters, Long-tailed Ducks, and Red-throated and Common Loons may be seen.

On the return trip we will be joined by Long Islanders and hear a presentation about the threats that Northern Gannets, Atlantic Puffins, Least, Common, and Roseate Terns, and other seabirds face due to climate change and overfishing.

Bring binoculars and camera, if you have them, and dress in layers for cold and windy conditions. Children are welcome and light snacks will be provided; feel free to bring food of your own. 

Arrive at the Cross Sound Ferry office at 9:00AM to purchase tickets for the 9:45AM ferry. Cost is $29 roundtrip. Departure time from Orient Point is 11:45AM (return to Orient Point from New London at 1:45PM).
