The West River Memorial Park is a designated IBA (Important Bird Area) and is part of the New Haven Harbor Urban Refuge Partnership. The Urban Oasis here improves annually, and the Osprey platform has been active with the same male-female pair for many years. By this time in June, the chicks will have hatched and be visible on the nest, with parent birds providing a show of fishing and feeding. Our experts will all be on hand to provide information on the amazing recovery of this once-endangered species.
Bird spotting telescopes will help everyone get a chance to watch the Ospreys interact with their chicks.
This is a free event. Drop by at any time. All ages welcome.
