Partridge berry (Mitchella repens) is an evergreen, woody, herbaceous perennial with stems that run along the ground in a vine-like fashion often carpeting an area. White, sometimes pinkish, fragrant, tubular flowers mature in summer that mature into shiny, red berries with a tiny dimple and star-shaped marks. It grows well in woodland/shade gardens, under trees, and in part shade areas of border fronts and rock gardens. It is moderately deer resistant.
