Wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa) is an erect 2-4 foot perennial with pale purple to pink flowers that grows in full to partial sun. It will do well in a range of soil types from sandy to loamy and dry to wet. Divide in spring or fall every 3-4 years for a more vigorous bloom.

Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, long tongued bees, hummingbird moths, skippers, and butterflies get nectar from the blooms. Monarda foliage supports the caterpillars of several moth species.

Deer and rabbits are put off by the aromatic leaves.
