Avian Ambassadors provides participants a broad look at the waterfowl world. Topics covered include waterfowl adaptations, habitat requirements, and the process of imprinting. Program participants will also get to meet several of LRWC’s avian ambassadors including: Lowry, a Cape Barren Goose; Poppy, a North American Barn Owl; Sammy, a Puna Teal; and Nemo and Dory, Indian Runner Ducks.
Dr. Colleen Peters is the Manager of Education at Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Conservancy. She received her Doctorate in Environmental Science from Baylor University for her research examining microplastic ingestion within freshwater and marine fish from Texas waters and the utilization of pyr-GC/MS as a method for polymer identification. Dr. Peters now specializes in environmental communication and enjoys teaching on the subjects of ornithology, conservation, and biodiversity.
